Titanium flange is a pipe connecting component made of titanium or titanium alloy:
1、 Physical and mechanical properties
1. Lightweight and High Strength: With a density of approximately 4.5g/cm ³, it ranks first among metal materials in terms of specific strength, significantly reducing the load on pipeline systems.
2. Excellent temperature resistance
High temperature: Conventional titanium flanges can work for a long time at 300 ℃, while the new titanium alloy is suitable for temperatures up to 600 ℃.
Low temperature: Titanium alloys such as TA7 and TC4 maintain toughness and ductility at -196~253 ℃ without cold brittleness.
3. Low elastic modulus: The elastic modulus is 106.4GPa, and it has stronger elastic deformation ability under stress.
2、 Chemical and Environmental Adaptability
1. Corrosion resistance
A dense oxide film is formed on the surface, which can self repair damage and resist corrosion from seawater, acid, and chloride ions.
Special alloys such as Ti31 have a seawater corrosion resistance rate only 1/10 of 316L stainless steel.
2. Anti crevice corrosion: By optimizing the composition design, the corrosion resistance in sulfide containing environments is significantly improved.
3、 Functional characteristics
1. Non magnetic and non-toxic: Non magnetic, suitable for precision instruments and strong magnetic field environments; Excellent biocompatibility, widely used in medical devices.
2. Anti fatigue and anti damping: Outstanding resistance to alternating loads; Mechanical vibration has a long attenuation time and is suitable for high-precision vibration components.
3. Heat transfer performance optimization: Corrosion resistance allows for a reduction in wall thickness, combined with droplet condensation design to lower thermal resistance and suppress scaling.
4、 Typical application areas
Chemical/Ocean Engineering: Strong corrosive medium pipelines, seawater desalination systems, corrosion resistance;
Aerospace: engine components, rocket structural components, lightweight+high temperature resistance;
Energy: Cooling systems for nuclear power plants, LNG low-temperature valves, low-temperature toughness+radiation resistance.
